Bruntsfield House

Bruntsfield House is registered to provide both residential and supported living accommodation. There are seven residential beds, each en-suite, for people who are normally leaving long-term care and who are deemed ready for discharge into the community. As at Cavendish House, users are encouraged to take responsibility for household and domestic chores; also, to prepare their own meals on a daily basis, should they wish to do so, subject to individual risk assessment and care planning.

Our primary aim is to enable and support vulnerable people to achieve lifestyles that are both satisfying to themselves and valued by others in society, facilitated through individually tailored support packages of care. The team at Bruntsfield  House believes that this can be achieved on a person centred basis, by valuing both the individual and those within their social networks.

The seven individually tailored supported living flats, each single occupancy have their own front door, a living / kitchen, bedroom and bathroom and are supported by staff 24 hours each day, ensuring availability of staff whenever service users require assistance.

Dining - Residential Care

Residential Service Users at Bruntsfield House have a dedicated kitchen supervisor who prepares all meals. There is a six-week menu which is developed with a Dietician, taking into consideration service users’ health needs, preferences and any known allergies. All food is shopped for with service users, produced freshly every day and we never use processed products, such as jars of cook-in sauces, etc. maintaining peoples’ physical and mental health.  Staff and service users also eat together to promote therapeutic social role modelling.

Residential service users also have access to a fully equipped training kitchen, given appropriate risk assessments and care plans, in preparation for a progression to supported living.

Dining - Supported Living

Service users in supported living are facilitated to develop a three weekly menu cycle, reflecting their individual wishes whilst maintaining a healthy lifestyle, being especially

mindful of  weight and dietary requirements.
